1. Purpose and Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy (this "Policy") describes conduct that is prohibited in connection with access to and use of the website located at [WEBSITE DOMAIN] (the "Website"), published by [FIRM LEGAL NAME], operating as loramora (the "Firm," "we," "us," or "our"). This Policy applies to every person who accesses or uses the Website ("User" or "you"), including anyone who sends the Firm a communication through the Website's contact details.

This Policy exists to protect the integrity of the Website, the security and confidentiality of information exchanged through it, and the safety and rights of other Users, prospective clients, Clients, and members of the public. It is not a substitute for, and does not limit, any professional conduct obligation applicable to the Firm.

This Policy is written to be read alongside ordinary common sense: it identifies categories of conduct the Firm considers clearly inappropriate, but the fact that a particular act is not spelled out does not mean it is condoned if it is otherwise dishonest, unlawful, or harmful to the Website, the Firm, or a third party.

2. Definitions

Capitalized terms not defined in this Policy have the meaning given in the Website Terms of Use. In addition, in this Policy:

  • "Malicious Code" means viruses, worms, trojan horses, ransomware, spyware, or any other code or mechanism designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to a system or data.
  • "Scraping" means the automated extraction of data or content from the Website using bots, crawlers, scripts, or similar tools, other than standard indexing by recognized search engines conducted in accordance with the Website's published crawler directives, if any.
  • "Personal Information" has the meaning given to Personal Data in the Privacy Policy.
  • "Communication Channel" means any means by which a User contacts the Firm in connection with the Website, including the email addresses published on the Website and any associated reply threads.
  • "Violation" means any act or omission by a User that is inconsistent with this Policy.

3. Relationship to Website Terms of Use

This Policy supplements and is incorporated into the Website Terms of Use. A violation of this Policy is also a violation of the Website Terms of Use. In the event of any inconsistency between this Policy and the Website Terms of Use regarding acceptable conduct on the Website, this Policy controls with respect to that conduct.

4. General Standard of Use

You must use the Website only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, restrict, or inhibit anyone else's use and enjoyment of the Website. You are responsible for all activity that occurs through your use of the Website, including the content of any communication you send to the Firm.

This general standard is not limited by the more specific categories of prohibited conduct described in Sections 5 through 12. Those sections illustrate common categories of misuse; they do not describe every way in which the Website could be used unlawfully or improperly, and conduct not specifically listed may still violate this Section if it is otherwise unlawful or inconsistent with the purpose of this Policy described in Section 1.

5. Fraud and Financial Crime

You must not use the Website to:

  • engage in, facilitate, or attempt any fraudulent scheme, misrepresentation, or deceptive practice;
  • solicit, offer, or facilitate the transfer of funds or assets connected with fraud, theft, or misappropriation;
  • engage in or facilitate money laundering, terrorist financing, or the structuring of transactions to evade reporting or identification requirements;
  • misrepresent your identity, authority, or affiliation with any person or entity in communications with the Firm; or
  • provide the Firm with false or misleading information about the source of funds, the parties to a transaction, or the purpose of a proposed engagement, where such information is material to the Firm's conflict check, client identification, or risk assessment process.

See also the sanctions, export control, and client identification provisions of the Compliance and Law Enforcement Requests Policy.

6. Phishing, Impersonation, and Deception

You must not use the Website, or any communication channel associated with it, to:

  • impersonate the Firm, any lawyer, employee, or agent of the Firm, or any other person or entity;
  • send communications designed to appear as though they originate from the Firm for the purpose of deceiving a recipient (phishing) or to induce disclosure of credentials, funds, or confidential information; or
  • create or disseminate content that falsely suggests an association with, or endorsement by, the Firm; or
  • register a domain name, social media account, or email address designed to be confused with the Firm's actual domain or the Website.

If you receive a communication purporting to be from the Firm that you believe may be fraudulent, including a request for payment, credentials, or sensitive information sent through an unfamiliar address or channel, please verify it directly with the Firm using the contact details published on the Website before responding or acting on it.

7. Unauthorized Access and Security

You must not attempt to:

  • gain unauthorized access to the Website, any account, system, or network connected to it, or any data stored on such systems;
  • probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Website or any related system without prior written authorization from the Firm;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Website, its servers, or networks connected to it, including through denial-of-service techniques; or
  • circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with security-related features of the Website; or
  • use credentials, tokens, or access rights belonging to another person or the Firm without authorization.

8. Misuse of Personal Information

You must not use the Website to:

  • collect, harvest, or attempt to collect Personal Information about other Users or third parties except as expressly permitted;
  • submit another person's Personal Information without appropriate authority to do so; or
  • use any Personal Information obtained through the Website for a purpose other than the purpose for which it was provided; or
  • submit Personal Information belonging to a third party as part of an inquiry unless you have a proper basis for doing so, such as identifying an opposing party for the purpose of a conflicts check.

9. Abusive Communications

You must not send the Firm, or any of its lawyers, employees, or agents, communications that are threatening, harassing, abusive, defamatory, or that contain hate speech, or that are sent in a manner or at a volume intended to disrupt the Firm's operations (for example, repeated unsolicited bulk messages). The Firm may decline to respond to, and may block further communications from, a person who violates this Section. This Section does not limit a person's ability to make a good-faith complaint about the Firm's services, to pursue a legitimate legal claim against the Firm, or to exercise any right described in the Privacy Policy; it is directed at the manner and tone of communication, not at the substance of a legitimate grievance.

10. Malicious Uploads and Code

You must not upload, transmit, or attempt to transmit Malicious Code to the Website or through any Communication Channel associated with it, and must not include Malicious Code in any attachment sent to the Firm. This prohibition applies regardless of whether the Malicious Code is intended to affect the Firm's systems specifically or is included, even unintentionally through a compromised device, in a message or attachment sent to the Firm. If you believe a device or account you have used to communicate with the Firm may be compromised, you should notify the Firm promptly using an alternative, trusted means of communication.

11. Scraping and Automated Access

You must not engage in Scraping of the Website, or use bots, crawlers, or similar automated means to access the Website in a manner that imposes an unreasonable load on it or that is intended to reproduce substantial portions of its Content elsewhere without authorization. This Section does not prohibit ordinary indexing of the Website by recognized public search engines, or a private individual's use of standard browser or accessibility tools to view or save a single page for personal reference.

12. Intellectual Property Infringement

You must not use the Website to infringe the copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of the Firm or any third party, including by reproducing, distributing, or creating derivative works from Content except as permitted under the license granted in the Website Terms of Use. This includes a prohibition on presenting the Firm's name, wordmark, or emblem in a manner likely to confuse a reader into believing that a different website, service, or publication is affiliated with, operated by, or endorsed by the Firm.

13. Facilitating or Encouraging Violations

You must not knowingly assist, encourage, instruct, or provide tools intended to enable another person to violate this Policy, including by sharing methods for bypassing security controls described in Section 7, or by knowingly facilitating a fraudulent scheme of the kind described in Section 5. Facilitating a Violation under this Section is itself treated as a Violation of this Policy.

14. Investigation and Suspension Pending Review

Where the Firm has a reasonable basis to suspect a Violation, it may investigate the suspected conduct, which may include reviewing the relevant communication, temporarily suspending the User's ability to submit further inquiries through the Website's Communication Channels while the review is conducted, and seeking clarification from the User where appropriate. A temporary suspension under this Section is a precautionary measure and is not, by itself, a determination that a Violation occurred.

15. Consequences of Violation

Violation of this Policy may result in restriction, suspension, or termination of your access to the Website, removal of any content you have submitted where practicable, and, where the conduct is unlawful, referral to law enforcement or other appropriate authorities. Where a violation occurs in connection with a prospective or existing engagement, the Firm may also decline to accept, or may take other professionally permissible steps in relation to, that matter, consistent with Applicable Law and applicable rules of professional conduct. The Firm will generally seek to apply a response proportionate to the nature and severity of the Violation, while reserving the right to act immediately where necessary to protect the security of the Website, the Firm, or third parties.

16. Reporting a Violation

If you become aware of conduct that may violate this Policy, including suspected phishing or impersonation of the Firm, please notify the Firm using the contact details in Section 19, providing as much detail as reasonably possible, such as copies of suspicious messages, the sender's address, and the approximate date and time of the conduct.

17. Cooperation with Authorities

Where required by Applicable Law or a valid legal process, the Firm may disclose information about suspected violations of this Policy to law enforcement or regulatory authorities, subject to the safeguards, privilege protections, and procedures described in the Compliance and Law Enforcement Requests Policy.

18. Changes to This Policy

The Firm may revise this Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of the Website after a revision becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
